Premonition 2 (2010)
The idea for Premonition 2 grew out of its predecessor; a take on the same subject, on a radically different scale.
Premonition (2010)
Premonition is an installation with sculpture, sound, and sound-controlled light. I started working on the piece in 2009 and finished in 2010. The four large wooden sculptures in Premonition each have their own speaker, with four different, continuous breathing sounds. The breathing halts abruptly and briefly as two strong spotlights and a strobe lights up the twelve standing sculptures in a small, adjacent room; as the light fades, the breathing carefully starts again.
Premonition was first shown in the exhibition Proteggimi, which I held with Sini Björkholm in January 2010. The theme of the exhibition was feelings of security and insecurity. Funding from the City of Vaasa, Svensk-Österbottniska Samfundet, and Svenska Kulturfonden made it possible to create this installation, and the whole exhibition – thanks also to Pro sound & light service center for the light-and-sound part of the installation.
